After seeing a beautiful window display in the House of Fraser in Bournemouth, I got totally excited about the fashion label Biba coming back to action! Biba was founded by Barbara Hulanicki and Stephen Fritz-Simon in the early sixties as a mail order company and found major success in the late 60s and early 70s!
After a picture featuring a gingham inspired outfit appeared in the press in the mid 60s the company soared success. The first store opened in 1964 in Kensington and the Biba’s fresh style inspired fashionistas such as Twiggy. In 1974 they moved to Derry & Toms seven floor department store and their signature style and branding continued to inspire. in 1975 however, due to financial difficulty, the store closed.
It was announced that in 2009 Biba was set to return to our highstreets! Exclusively to House of Fraser the ethos and 60s inspired design of the original brand has been used. This time fronted by the lovely Daisy Lowe in vinatge style lepoard print, sequined dresses and killer heals! Beautiful.
